Working in Lichfield
Lichfield is a cathedral city with a large conservation area of Georgian and older brick buildings around the Close, Bore Street and Dam Street. Around that core are 20th-century estates such as Boley Park, Leomansley and Curborough, and big new developments at Streethay and on the southern edge of the city.
In Lichfield's conservation area, extensions usually need planning permission and careful choice of brick, tile and detailing to suit the street. Lichfield District Council handles applications. New housing at Streethay and on the south side of Lichfield has brought a lot of drainage, driveway and extension work, often on clay ground that needs proper foundations and soakaway testing.
For Lichfield (WS13 and WS14), planning applications are handled by Lichfield District Council, and highways matters such as scaffold licences, skips on the road and dropped kerbs by Staffordshire County Council. Our yard at Kimberley Business Park is about nine miles down the A51 from our Rugeley yard.
How we work
We design for lower running costs too, with good insulation and the option of heat pumps, solar PV and battery storage through Margav Energy, so the extension is comfortable and efficient as well as spacious.
We price from your drawings and specification, explain what is included and what is not, and give you a programme. During the build you deal with one contact who coordinates groundworks, brickwork, roofing, scaffolding and services.
